Shellac Flakes

Pure Shellac Flakes can be dissolved in ethanol (pure denatured alcohol) to form a viscous liquid (Shellac Knotting solution) the consistency of syrup for sealing surfaces.

Note: the higher the alcohol % in the ethanol the quicker it will dissolve e.g 99% 24 hours, 50 to 70% abaout a week.

Apply to any knots in the timber and to the rebates and glazing beads to prevent window putty from drying out too quickly.
